i have been spying on this mom and her little chicks for the past couple of days. it's very hard to get close enough to get pictures, but i was really sneaky today and managed to snap a few.
(click on the photos so you can see them close up, it's the cutest thing in the world)
i love seeing these little guys in our yard searching all day for bugs and worms to eat. it's so fascinating to watch their mom show them how to get food and teaching them to survive. i love them. hopefully none of these adorable little chicks will turn into mean, loud, roosters.
this is after mother hen spotted me in the bushes. they all took off, waddling their little fluffy behinds to go nestle and hide under their mom's big feathers. can you believe they all still fit underneath her?

I love seeing little birds following their mother around (where is the father by the way?) Where we used to live we would always see ducks and quail with their tiny little babies. The little duckies would always be in a PERFECT straight line behind mommy. And you know how quail are - how they prefer to run instead of fly? The little tiny quail would try to run so fast to keep up with their mom. It was amazing that their little legs could move that fast.
p.s. one day i accidentally ran over 2 baby quail and it still makes me sick to my stomach to think about it. I have a feeling I'm gonna pay for that in the afterlife even though i did everything i could to avoid them!
those fuzzy chicks are the cutest! cody showed us the mother with them all under her wings today - amazing.
i wish all animals could stay small and cute. then i would love them more.
I would love it if Cody was hiding in the bushes taking photos of you taking photos of the chicks!
I bet you looked hysterical (in a cute way) hiding from them taking pictures.
You should go see Earth, Hols and I saw it last weekend and the baby chicks learning to fly was hysterical-in a cute way :)
it makes me want to cry seeing how mothers, in all variaties, just love their babes. their whole purpose is to protect, nurture, and love.
kinda like me and bay and van.
you and june.
and your mama chicken and her chicks.
So sweet! Does that make me crazy if this makes me baby hungry! Weird but love how you threw in a line from the best show ever..Oh and who do you think you are with that perfect long beach waved hair. It's not like you live in Hawaii! Your Beautiful! MUAH!
That is so funny. I hope they all migrate when they grow up for your sake. At least you will be in the mainland when they all start making noise. But they are cute for now:)
they're so cute- i think i'd want to take a couple inside and have them be my little pets. it's amazing how the love between children and their mother is instinctual, yet so tender and true.
i love that you started with the perfect line from the best friday night show!!! i also think this is the coolest thing ever..look how dang cute those little chicks are
