a day to love

valentines has always been one of my favorite holidays. i think it's because my mom was sure to make it special. we would bake all things heart shaped, including cookies, brownies, giant rice crispy treats, and cakes... then she would drive us around to our grandparents, cousins and a few special friend's homes. we would run, or trudge through the snow in our little snow boots, drop the valentine treat off on the door step, being oh so quiet to not spoil the surprise. immediately after our small fingers hit the doorbell, we would run our hearts out back to the car, dive in and shout..."go mom, go!" it always got my heart beating so fast running back to the car, i never wanted to get caught and i wasn't the fastest runner on the block. now that i look back at it, i realize my grandma was probably watching out the window with a smile on her face, seeing our little winter coats dash back to the car as if we had just accomplished a secret mission. i loved sorting through my homemade valentine's box and reading each card i had received from my fellow classmates, carefully noting which boys wrote "from" and which ones wrote "love." never did I think my valentine's day could get better. until i met cody. he makes my life perfect. he makes me happy in every way, and some days i question if i deserve him. a few things i love about him:
  • the face he makes when he's trying not to smile
  • he kills any bug that sneaks into our house...and usually tries to hide it from me so i won't worry
  • regularly talks to our baby, and asks it questions
  • he puts his face really close to his food when he sprinkles salt and pepper on it
  • his handwriting
  • he sometimes whines (picked up from yours truly)
  • his hairy blond arms
  • that he is a rocker at heart
  • his current obsession with soda pop (in a glass--with ice)
  • his love of snowboarding
  • the way he loves his mom (and my mom)
  • that he says he will never want to drive a new car....just one that is 15 years old and about to die
  • he always cleans up after himself
  • he is unique and creative...especially when it comes to his jokes
  • he has the most amazing french accent
  • he treats me like i'm his favorite person to always be with
  • he makes certain to cheer me up when i am sad

What a sweet husband! (And I totally agree about the new car thing! They're so much cheaper at even 1 year old!)

What a sweet list for your man.

I totally remember looking to see if boys would write from or love. Those were the days - good times.

Happy "Lovings" Day to you two!

P.S. Did you see the one I made for you? Silly.
